Marilaine Savard
Physiotherapist and kinesiologist
Passionate about sport since her childhood, Marilaine likes to move and put her body into action. Swimming, soccer and running have forged his determination to surpass himself and test his physical limits in competition and have also caused him to experience various injuries. A deep desire to understand her pain and optimize biomechanics took root in her and two main objectives were born:
- Get back into motion as quickly as possible without being limited by discomfort
- Help others stay on the move to fulfill themselves and enjoy life to the fullest!
His reflections, his academic progress and his career as an athlete in athletics led him to the University of Sherbooke for 7 years. Years rich in beautiful encounters with students, coaches and health professionals combined with a Canadian-level training experience that greatly influenced him on a personal and professional level.
His early career was in Chambly at Physio Proactif, a multidisciplinary clinic well recognized for the quality of care and its therapists. She treated a mainly active clientele practicing endurance sports such as triathlon, running and cycling. Combining treatment and teaching group classes, she supervised various activities (yoga, exercises in the pool, stretching and self-massage). In parallel to this clinical practice, Marilaine has coached running in the Trifort triathlon club and has organized the Triathlon de Chambly since the first edition. Triathlon, road racing, adventure raid, trail running and camping vacations have led her to visit Quebec, including the Gaspé Peninsula, where she fell in love.
Her ongoing training in recent years has allowed her to acquire different treatment approaches including level 2 orthopedic manual therapy (upper and lower quadrant), myofascial release techniques, evaluation and treatment of the temporomandibular joint ( TMJ) and postural rehabilitation using the Mézières Method. Also in 2021, Marilaine was very happy to complete her yoga teacher training (RYT200) with Namaste Yoga recognized by Yoga Alliance to deepen his practice and teaching. His last training in 2023, after 10 years in the field of physiotherapy, was the approach of perineal and pelvic rehabilitation (RPP) for the prevention and treatment of urinary incontinence in women.
A need for closeness to nature and easy access to the outdoors has taken on great importance in her life over the years, which is why she decided to make the leap to Gaspé. Marilaine practiced for a year as a physiotherapist at the Arsenault, Joncas and Fournier physiotherapy clinic before making the decision to return to a practice combining physiotherapy and kinesiology in treatment and teaching group classes. This professional practice represents for her a good work balance and thus allows a diversified service offer for the community of Côte-de-Gaspé and Rocher-Percé.
A holistic treatment approach, considering the human in a bio-psycho-social vision has always been important to me and a priority since my beginnings in clinical practice. I now have more than ever the favorable space-time to combine my rehabilitation treatment approaches and the opportunity to promote healthy lifestyle habits through group lessons.
